MS016A
Tester for diagnostics of alternator's voltage regulators
The MS016A tester is a multifunctional device for diagnosing a vehicle electrical system.
The tester provides the following functions:
1. Diagnostics of automotive alternators directly on the vehicle. The tester can check alternators with nominal voltages of 12 and 24 V, including 12 V «start-stop» system alternators (VALEO I-StARS). The tester allows determining the technical condition of the alternator and the need for its subsequent removal from the vehicle for repair or replacement.
During alternator diagnostics, the tester allows determining:
- whether the alternator output voltage corresponds to the rated value;
- voltage stability under load (switching on headlights, heater blower, air conditioner, etc.);
- operability of the voltage regulator – the ability of the alternator to regulate output voltage and the operability of the feedback channel (FR, DFM, M, LI).
2. Testing the operability of 48 V belt starter-generators. The tester can check units removed from the vehicle (in bench mode) only in starter mode.
3. Determining the operability of 12 and 24 V voltage regulators separately from the alternator.
4. «CAN/LIN Hacker» is a function intended for reading and recording data on CAN, CAN-FD, and LIN buses. The tester provides the ability to work simultaneously with several data buses.
5. When using the MS-33503A cable, the tester allows diagnostics of the starter directly on the vehicle without removing it, or on a test bench that provides starter fixation and power supply. (The MS-33503A cable is not included in the tester package).
