Tester for diagnostics of electric power steering units
The MS561 PRO tester is designed for diagnosing electric power steering (EPS) components removed from vehicles, including steering racks, columns, and pumps. It supports all data transmission protocols, such as CAN, CAN-FD, FlexRay, two independent CAN buses, as well as connection of components controlled via PWM. The tester's software is continuously updated, expanding the database of diagnosable components and adding new diagnostic capabilities.

The MS561 PRO tester is used for diagnosing and repairing EPS steering racks, columns, and electric hydraulic power steering (EHPS) pumps. The tester also allows diagnosing torque sensors separately from the steering rack. It simulates a car for the electric power steering, enabling it to run independently of the vehicle’s electrical system (on a bench mode) and obtain the necessary diagnostic information:
- Current consumption on two terminals K15 (ignition) and K30 (motor), additionally showing the correct (normal) current consumption for the unit under test;
- Current ("live") data from the control unit;
- DTC error list, with the ability to erase them;
- Unit information: VIN, hardware version, software version, etc.
The tester also features a set of special functions* for repairing electric power steering systems:
- Flash programming (allows clearing errors that cannot be erased by regular error deletion). Relevant for Ford, Audi, VW, Porsche.
- Parameter loading (allows configuring the steering rack for a specific vehicle.). Relevant for VAG group.
- VIN change for GM racks.
- Virginizing – clearing the rack’s association with a vehicle (allows installing racks from another vehicle). Relevant for Renault/Nissan.
- EEPROM reading/writing.
- Software restoration of faulty control units.
* The list of units with available special functions depends on the specific unit and vehicle. This list is constantly expanded with new tester software updates.

What problems does the MS561 PRO controller solve?
The controller allows testing EPS and EHPS units directly on a bench, fully simulating their operation in a vehicle. This saves time by eliminating the need to install the units into a vehicle and enables repairs directly in the workshop without requiring a car.

How do you connect a unit to the MS561 PRO?
To connect a unit to the MS561, you can use a specialized cable that plugs directly into the connectors. Alternatively, you can use a universal cable, manually connecting each pin according to the provided wiring diagram.

What signals can the MS561 PRO tester simulate?
The MS561 PRO controller supports the simulation of three PWM signals (engine RPM, vehicle speed, and steering wheel rotation), two CAN buses with CAN-FD protocol support, as well as FlexRay. For some units, it can also generate additional specialized signals, implemented through dedicated cables.

Which units can be connected using the universal cable, and which cannot?
The universal cable is suitable for operating units that use PWM and CAN signals, covering approximately 80% of all units. However, it does not support connecting FlexRay units, certain pumps with non-standard steering angle sensor signals, or Japanese racks where the control unit is not integrated into the rack.

How can an inexperienced technician identify the unit being repaired?
Our database contains all known OEM part numbers of units, along with their photos and a list of vehicles they are used in. This greatly simplifies identification, a critical step for accurate diagnostics and repair.

What should be done if a unit is not in the database or its OEM number is not linked?
Today, all passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are equipped with EPS, and our goal is to promptly identify and add new units to the database. If you encounter a unit that is not in the system, let us know, and we will add it to the database to improve its completeness and relevance.

How many different units are included in the database?
Our database describes over 500 different units, corresponding to more than 3,000 vehicle models. Programs have already been developed for approximately 90% of them.
